Purpose
To promote study in any area of early American studies.
Focus -
United States studies.
Qualifications -
Applicants must have completed the Ph.D. by the date the fellowship begins; must be a U.S. citizen or have lived in the United States for the three years preceding the fellowship award (required for NEH funding); have not previously published a scholarly book or have entered into a contract for the publication of a scholarly monograph; proposed fellowship project must not be under contract with another publisher.
Criteria
Selection will be based on candidate's dissertation or other manuscript has significant potential as a distinguished, book-length contribution to scholarship.
