Purpose
To provide financial support to minority students in graduate studies in marriage and family therapy.
Focus -
Family/Marital therapy.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent U.S. residence status (I-551 or I-151); individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible; must be AAMFT members at the time of selection and for the duration of the fellowship; must be in at least the third year of their academic program; must be enrolled in courses approved by their academic advisor that will fulfill the research requirements needed to complete their dissertation and doctoral degree; must be enrolled full-time (as defined by their academic institution) in a marriage and family therapy doctoral program for the duration of the fellowship.

Applicant must provide three recommendation letters and complete all required sections in the AAMFT MFP recommendation form, including an uploaded letter and updated curriculum vita/resume; must submit undergraduate, masters and PhD program information including the dates attended and degree type for at least a full academic year within the last 10 years (must include current institution). Applicant needs to write two brief essays: essay #1 should focus on specific training interests and career goals: essay #2 should focus on choice of university, training program, and advisor/mentor, and how choice relates to minority mental health or your specific training interests and career goals.
