To strengthen ties between US and Sri Lankan scholars.
Focus -
Humanities; Social sciences.
Qualifications -
Applicants must be US citizens; must hold a PhD or equivalent academic degree or show that they will hold such a degree before taking up the fellowship; must plan to spend at least two months in Sri Lanka.
Criteria
Selection will be based on the submitted proposal.

Applications should contain the following items: A one-page cover sheet, stating the applicants' name, mailing address, email address, home and office telephone, citizenship, major field of study, institutional affiliation, dates of previous research in Sri Lanka, proposed dates of project, project title and a brief description; A curriculum vitae, not to exceed three pages and may include information on such matters as gender and race/ethnicity; A description of the proposed study, not to exceed three single-spaced pages; it should cover the following topics: questions to be addressed by the project, the approach to be taken, work done to date, work to be accomplished during the fellowship period, the applicants' competence to carry out the project, how the project addresses the criteria of the competition, a statement of other support received or being sought for the project; A one-page project bibliography, including a selected list of publications by other scholars or primary sources that have been or will be used in the project; pages should have one-inch margins on all sides, 10 points or larger and should be printed on one side only; every page should be numbered and include the name of the applicants in the upper right-hand corner. Five copies of the application, including the original, must be collated and fastened with staple in the following order: cover sheet, CV, project description, bibliography; a copy of the application should also be submitted in Word or PDF format by email.
