AFCEA Scholarships

The AFCEA Educational Foundation's scholarship program for students studying hard science disciplines at colleges and universities in the United States comprises only a portion of the annual $2 million in AFCEA educational outreach for science and technology.

Many of AFCEA's 140 chapters also provide scholarships, grants, and tuition assistance for aspiring STEM teachers, engineers, technicians, programmers, military personnel, and government officials. Financial aid is made available for students living or attending school within each chapter's local community.

Education Foundation Scholarships

The AFCEA Educational Foundation has six general categories of scholarships available for undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled and attending full-time at four-year colleges or universities in the United States and living in the United States. The scholarship program criteria cover the upcoming school year. Please read the information listed with each scholarship/program to determine eligibility and individual qualifications.

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate applicants must be a second-year college students enrolled as a sophomore or junior in a four-year institution at the time of application.
  • A current overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • Freshman and senior college students are ineligible to apply.
  • Graduate applicants must currently be enrolled in their second semester and at least two (2) semester-equivalent courses per term at an accredited U.S. college or university. A current overall GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.

Colonel Kathleen Swacina Scholarship

This $1,000 Scholarship will recognize one outstanding female college student who has shown a potential to excel in college studies in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and attends college full-time in the state of Georgia. Applications and supporting documents are due in March. Learn more.

Diversity Graduate Scholarships

Scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time students (women and minority students) enrolled in their second semester and at least two semester-equivalent courses) currently pursuing a graduate degree at any accredited academic institution in the United States and living in the United States in an eligible major that supports the mission of AFCEA Educational Foundation. ROTC Scholarships

ROTC scholarships, ranging from $2,500 to $3,000 each, are awarded to students enrolled full-time in C4I-related majors and other specific related areas of study. Applications are due in April. Learn more.

STEM Teacher Scholarships

Competitive-based scholarships of $2,500 each are available to students actively pursuing a graduate degree or credential/licensure for teaching science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) subjects at a United States K-12 school. The scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from ManTech, AFCEA International, and several AFCEA regional chapters. Applications are due in April. Learn more.

STEM Major Scholarships

Applicants will be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major scholarship opportunities for which they qualify. Applications will be accepted from current eligible undergraduate-level students majoring in STEM fields, including cybersecurity, intelligence, and homeland security-related disciplines. War Veterans Scholarships

Merit-based scholarships of varying amounts will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services and honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel). They must be currently enrolled and attending classes part-time or full-time in an eligible degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Robert Howell Memorial Educational Fund

To honor Commodore Robert Howell, Royal Navy (Retired), former general manager for AFCEA Europe, and keep his upbeat, positive spirit alive, AFCEA has created the AFCEA International Educational Fund in his name. This fund will be used to support international chapter educational programs for students outside the United States. Learn more.
